Male Breast Reduction Surgery- Gynaecomastia
Gynaecomastia is a common condition that can be caused by a number of factors, including hormonal imbalances, steroid drug use or weight gain. The resulting excess tissue is resistant to diet and exercise and can range from a small tender lump under the nipple (caused by excess tissue), to larger woman-like breasts.
We, our highly skilled cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgeon, has many years of experience in performing Breast Reduction Surgery for Men.
We usually does this surgery in one of two ways, and will sometimes use a combination of both.
The First method is to remove excess fatty tissue with Liposuction. This is indicated when fatty tissue and not breast tissue is the problem. We will request that you have an Ultrasound to help him determine this.
The second method is chosen if excess breast tissue is the problem. This is in the form of a breast reduction, and is done by cutting away the excess breast tissue and any excess glandular tissue. Incisions are generally around the areola and, if necessary, under the breast.
Following surgery, you may need to wear a support garment to maintain your new chest contour as it heals – usually between 4 to 6 weeks. Stitches are removed within 7 to 10 days, which is when you may return to work and normal activities. You should feel the results of your new chest immediately, with final results visible after several months when swelling has subsided.
Our team at the Igorgeous understand that gynaecomastica is a sensitive issue for men. We will do everything we can to ensure your Male Breast Reduction Surgery experience is treated with the utmost discretion and care.
